Egg Substitute

Milk, Egg, Nut, Peanut, and Soy Free

One staple in any baking recipe is eggs. But when you're allergic to eggs, it becomes a big issue to find a dessert you're not allergic to! In a FA cook book my mom has always had, there are multiple egg substitutes, but this is the one I've always used, and I hope it helps you too!

ONE EGG:
1 1/2 TBL. Water
1 1/2 TBL. Oil (not peanut)
1 tsp. Baking Powder

TWO EGGS (just double):
3 TBL. Water
3 TBL. Oil (not peanut)
2 tsp. Baking Powder

Please remember to double check all ingredients for your food allergens. I hope you can use this to your benefit!

  1. Dear Alli,
You should be very proud of yourself. This is a great blog. As a mom of 2, I want to thank you for your egg substitute recipe. My 8 year old daughter has an easy bake oven and a cookbook with recipes adapted for the easybake. We cannot use the easy bake refill packages because my 6 year old son has a peanut allergy. Many of the recipes in my daughter's cookbook call for an egg substitute, so we've never made any of those particular recipes since I didn't know what to use. Thanks to you, we now have a very simple recipe for the eggs. I'm sure your mom is very proud of you! Keep up the wonderful work Alli and good luck on your silver award.

    Sincerely,

  2. I'm so glad I could help! My mom has had a Food Allergy Cookbook for as long as I can remember, and in the front, it has a bunch of substitutes! This is the one I use ALL the time! I always wanted one of those easy bake ovens when I was little because of allergies, so I'm glad she has been able to work around it! Thanks for sharing!

  3. Thanks Alli!
i have to try that. My 14 year old son is allergic to eggs and i always substitute 1/4 cup vanilla or plain yogurt per egg called for in the recipe. It works great for everything except brownies! I will try your tip for them.

    1. I'm happy that you found this and I hope it works for you! I use this substitute in about every baked treat I make. I'm sure the vanilla and yogurt works great as well--but because of my dairy allergies, its impossible for me to use. But thanks for sharing! Best of Luck!
